Nashville Scene: CRITICS' PICK Art Gallery Day

Sunday is World Art Day — and also Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday — and on Saturday, the Nashville Gallery Association will host a citywide fête that will turn our fair city into a modern-day version of Renaissance Florence. All day long, Nashville’s galleries will have special events, including panels, performances, discussions and parties. Highlights include an 11 a.m. panel discussion at Cumberland Gallery moderated by Nashville Arts Magazine’s Paul Polycarpou and featuring former National Endowment for the Arts chairman Bill Ivey, 21c museum manager Brian Downey and Frist Art Museum curator Mark Scala. The after-party is at Julia Martin Gallery, where there will be live music by The Country Westerns (featuring Duke’s owner and longtime rock ’n’ roller Joey Plunket, Richie Kirkpatrick, Silver Jews’ Brian Kotzur and Bully’s Reece Lazarus).
